The Abita River

While this may look like the chocolate river that feeds Willy Wonka’s factory, it’s actually the Abita River, photographed where it passes under the Tammany Trace in Abita Springs, Louisiana.
While at the brewery, we were told they only do basic filtration of solids to the water they use to make their beer. That, coupled with this image, the stench at the brewery and the seemingly unsanitary conditions have made us somewhat cautious about drinking their product in the future.

Across Linville Gorge are many brooks and streams that are filled with fresh water from mountain springs. Although this water is likely to be fresh, it’s strongly recommended to use a filtration device when consuming.
